Tips to Fix the Risk Factor Cholesterol

In all over the world, the number of people affected by cardiovascular diseases is decreasing from year to year, thanks to dietary fixes that people are adopting.
To correct your eating habits look to know what is saturated fat (the bad elevate cholesterol (LDL)) and unsaturated (not raise the cholesterol)

Saturated fat
The saturated fats are the main cause of elevated levels of blood cholesterol. The main source of fat comes from animals and certain plants. It is recommended not eat more than 200 mg per day of cholesterol and no more than 30% of the daily intake of calories from fat, with less than 7% from saturated fat. It includes beef and cattle, fat from beef, pork, tallow, butter, cream, milk, cheese and other foods derived from milk. They are all foods that contain cholesterol and saturated fat. Of the fats of the plants are included coconut oil, tropical oils, cocoa butter.

Hydrogenated fats
The hydrogenation of fats occurs during its preparation industry, what happens, for example, with margarine.

Unsaturated fats (poly and mono)
They are generally found in liquid fats derived from plants. Among the poly unsaturated are the sesame seed oil (or sesame), sunflower, corn, soybeans, nuts and seeds. Among those are the mono-unsaturated like canola oil, peanut, avocado and olive oil. The unsaturated fats help lower cholesterol levels in blood when they are used in food, as a substitute for saturated fats. Even the margarine prepared with these fats should be used sparingly. The saturation of unsaturated fats, for industrialization, aiming to make them thicker, makes them so damaging as the saturated fats in nature. The unsaturated fats also saturate the high temperatures (frying).

Follow the basic recommendations below:
* Use natural oils, not hydrogenated, such as canola and olive oil.
* Look for processed foods produced with unsaturated fats.
* Use margarine as a substitute for butter, but look for the creamy or liquid margarine instead of harsher. Look for those containing less than 2 grams of saturated fat per teaspoon and, in composition, the liquid oils are prominent.
* Avoid fried potatoes, biscuits and dreams.
* Avoid fatty foods.
* Avoid the industrial and commercial fried foods and confectionery because they are rich in fats.
* Avoid fried food and fast meals.

Fish and walnuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which have long been known as brain boosters and cholesterol clearer. But they’ve also been shown to help with depression in pregnant women. Will Your Cell Phone Kill You?

Roads by themselves can be hazardous, and we all have to be careful in order to avoid accidents. With a cell phone by your ear, you only compound the risks.

A vehicle comes to a screeching halt as a pedestrian, busy on a cell phone, crosses the road. My heart skips a beat seeing the narrow escape, but the pedestrian nonchalantly walks on, oblivious to the seriousness of the situation. It’s high time that laws are made and strictly enforced to promote safety.

All this time we were focused on the possible hazards of cell phone radiation, that we ignored this larger threat. Cell phones can be deadly not only on land but also at se too! Though they keep mariners at sea in touch with their families, they also cause many accidents. Sometimes navigating officers are so engrossed on their cell phones that ships have collided.

A study released in January from the University of Utah, USA, showed that cell phone users slow down traffic on streets and highways.

Health Concerns of an Air Traveler

Passenger air travel is increasing by the day. With the number of passengers per flight increasing, we also see an increase in the number of non-stop long distance flights. Now the people who fly often have a lot of health issues to be worried about. Because, the conditions in long distance flights, may have effects on old people or people with previous illness.

As a matter of fact, when the plane is flying at high altitude, there is a decrease in cabin pressure. So our intake of oxygen reduces. This won’t go well with people having conditions like anemia. And it's important to move about in a flight. Because lack of movement or immobilization may cause "economy class syndrome" or "deep vein thrombosis" which is basically a clot of the blood vessel. It has many complications, one of it being sudden death. So to avoid it, its better to walk along the aisle and do some basic exercises.

Another common problem for air travelers is jet lag. It is basically the disruption of an individual's body clock. When you travel from one time zone to another, it takes time to adapt yourself to the new time zone. The effects of jet lag are sleeping in the day, poor metabolism, etc. Always consult a doctor before going on a long distance flight.
